How to Find the Best Driving Instructors in Aberdeen

Learning to drive can be a big step towards independence. But finding the best driving instructors in Aberdeen can be challenging. With so many options, how do you choose the right one? We’ve been helping learners in Aberdeen pass their tests for over 10 years. Here’s our guide on how to find the best fit for you.

1. Consider Your Individual Needs

Before you start your search, think about what you need. Are you a complete beginner? Or do you just need a quick refresher?

Some learners prefer traditional driving lessons spreading over a long period of time. Others may want intensive courses in Aberdeen with a fast-track driving test included, to pass quickly. For example, a 5-day course might suit intermediate drivers with over 20 hours of experience. For beginners with some prior lessons (at least 10 hours in the last 6 months), consider a 7-day course. Meanwhile, a 10-day course is ideal for complete beginners starting from scratch.

It’s also worth considering mixing lessons with practice with your family and friends (check the DVSA website for legal requirements!). However, a course with a qualified instructor helps correct any bad habits.

2. Check Government-Approved Resources

The DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) has a list of approved instructors. You can check their official website here.

However, not all instructors are listed! Many experienced driving instructors in Aberdeen are hired directly by reputable driving schools. Always verify the instructor’s qualifications. At Pass in Days, we only hire Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs). Most have been with us for years. Their local expertise ensures you’re fully prepared for the challenges of driving in Aberdeen. Our instructors possess excellent knowledge of Aberdeen’s roads, backed by extensive experience with local test routes and key city areas like AB10, AB11, and AB24. Their local expertise ensures you’re thoroughly prepared to handle the challenges of navigating both busy urban traffic and narrow streets.

3. Ask Friends and Family for Recommendations

One of the best ways to find reliable instructors in Aberdeen is by asking people you trust. If your friend recently passed a driving test in Aberdeen North (Bridge of Don) or Aberdeen South (Cove), ask who they learned with. If you are curious which of the Aberdeen test centres is easier, read our article What’s Easier: Aberdeen North (Bridge of Don) or Aberdeen South (Cove)?!

Personal recommendations are valuable. They can give you insights into the instructor’s teaching style and patience level. Plus, locals often know the best driving instructors in Aberdeen who understand test routes around Bridge of Don or Cove.

4. Read Online Reviews

Online reviews are a great resource. Check platforms like Google Reviews, Trustpilot, and Facebook. Look for patterns in feedback. Are students mentioning the instructor’s patience and professionalism? Do they praise the driving courses in Aberdeen for their flexibility and success rates?

However, be cautious. Reviews should be taken as one part of your research. Be sure to read the company’s responses to reviews, as customer dissatisfaction can stem from various reasons. It’s also crucial to check the FAQ page if your driving school has one and ask questions before booking a course to avoid misunderstandings.

5. Understand the Company’s Policies

Each driving courses company in Aberdeen has its own set of rules. Check cancellation policies, lesson durations, and the structure of the course.

For example, if you’re interested in crash driving courses in Aberdeen, ensure they guarantee a certain number of hours. At Pass in Days, intensive courses in Aberdeen range from 5 to 10 days. The choice of the right one depends on your previous experience, transmission preference (we offer both manual and automatic driving lessons in Aberdeen) and location. We also usually secure driving tests within a week or two after the course – provided you are safe and ready!

6. Search Online

Using the right words can narrow down your search. If you live in Aberdeen North, try searching “AB24 driving course near me”. For Aberdeen South, use phrases like “AB12 driving instructors near me”.

Google will prioritize results based on your location, making it easier to find local instructors. For example, learners in Stonehaven or Peterhead can search for courses nearby by using their specific post codes (e.g. „AB39 driving courses” or „AB42 driving instructors”). Some companies offer driving lessons not only in Aberdeen city but also in the surrounding areas and towns. At Pass in Days, we have driving instructors in Stonehaven and Peterhead who can pick you up from home: for more information see our FAQ page or contact us.
